MATTHEW BAIRD

Founding Partner & Chairman

As chairman and founding principal in BNB's New York office, Matthew Baird is involved primarily with developing new opportunities, and he manages investor relations with the administrative team. Baird led the land acquisition for Bull Creek and Mesquite Creek wind farms, and he managed the firm’s entry into distributed-generation solar, which led to projects with Fortune 500 corporations such as Campbell Soup, Pepperidge Farm, Mars Inc., Sumitomo, and Orix. Baird also serves as a managing director of Matthew Baird & Co., a family holding company founded in 1864, and he is the founding principal of an architecture practice in New York that specializes in sustainable projects. Baird has a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.Arch. from Columbia University.

JOS NICHOLAS

Founding Partner & Chief Executive Officer

As CEO and founding principal, Jos Nicholas spearheads BNB’s project-development strategy and execution, focusing on both utility-scale wind and utility-scale solar. After overseeing the development of more than 400MW of nameplate capacity wind projects, Nicholas managed the firm’s entry into utility-scale solar, where his efforts led to an additional 700MW to BNB’s roster of developed and constructed projects. Nicholas has a B.A. from Harvard University.

BRANDON WALL

Partner & Chief Operating Officer

As COO, Brandon Wall focuses on improving the operational efficiency of the firm, including overseeing all financial activities. Since joining the firm, in 2012, Wall has been instrumental in the development and sale both of BNB’s distributed-generation projects, including leading the development at Campbell Soup’s world headquarters, a complex project involving rooftop and carport arrays as well as ground-mounted solar atop a remediated brownfield, and also of its utility-scale projects, in both Mexico and the United States. Wall has a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

ORLANDO PUIG

Project Management

Orlando Puig is BNB's key project manager, with a specific focus on wind and solar projects in Texas and Mexico, where he leads fatal-flaw evaluations, the transmission-interconnection process, county permit proceedings, and environmental studies. He has more than 25 years of experience in the power plant business, including renewable and nonrenewable technologies, both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining BNB, Puig was vice president of development at Eurus Energy America, in charge of creating a portfolio of renewable energy projects in the Southwest. Before Eurus, he had initiated the renewable energy practice at the Canada-based infrastructure and engineering firm Stantec, helping to form an integrated suite of technical solutions for renewable clients in wind, solar, and biomass. Puig is a voting member of ERCOT's Independent Power Producer Group, which meets regularly in Austin to evaluate issues that may create obstacles to grid operations and to recommend ways to improve the dynamic balance between supply and load. He is a member of the board of directors of the Wind Coalition, working with state officials to ensure that the renewable industry provides Texas residents with clean energy for generations to come. Puig holds a B.A. from the University of Houston and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas.

LLOYD PASLEY

Engineering

Lloyd Pasley, who has more than twenty-five years of field work designing and engineering energy projects, began working with BNB in 2004, when he was lead engineer on the Bull Creek wind farm in Borden County, Texas. Prior to working with BNB, Pasley was part of the renewable energy team at Design Power NZ, which he joined in 1987, focusing on hydro-, geothermal-, and wind-power generation. In 1998, Design Power NZ was acquired by New York-based Parsons Brinckerhoff, and Pasley transferred to the United States to develop the company's wind power business. Subsequent to that, he formed Superna Energy to provide owner's engineering services to renewable energy projects. Superna has engineered and advised owners on several gigawatts of renewable generation throughout the United States. Pasley holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Auckland and a master's degree in chemical and process engineering from the University of Canterbury.

JONATHAN BUTCHER

Chairman Emeritus

Jonathan Butcher has been active in the oil and gas industry for more than 40 years. As investor general partner in more than 100 partnerships, he has participated in the drilling of more than 2,500 wells throughout the United States and Canada, investing more than $300 million in the aggregate, and he is chairman and president of Butcher Energy and a member of the Ohio Oil & Gas Association. Prior to founding Butcher Energy, Butcher was chairman and CEO of Butcher & Co., a holding company that owned the regional brokerage and municipal and corporate finance company named Butcher & Singer, which was founded in 1910 by his grandfather, Howard Butcher Jr. Under Butcher's leadership, Butcher & Singer (formerly Wheat First) expanded into real estate, private banking, venture capital, oil and gas exploration, energy investment banking, cable TV, aircraft and equipment leasing, and radio broadcasting. Today, the firm is part of Wells Fargo Securities, constituting a large portion of its East Coast operations. Butcher is also Director of Ardica Technologies, a high-technology firm spun off from Stanford University. Butcher has a degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

STEPHEN WESTERBERG

Steve Westerberg is involved in BNB's new business development and marketing, working with Fortune 500 corporate sustainability directors and targeting key alliances for utility-scale wind and solar initiatives in the United States. He is also a senior managing director with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, a diversified property-service company with 320 offices on five continents, and has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of commercial real estate. Westerberg has a B.A. from the University of Colorado.

RAFE GREENLEE

After graduating from Harvard with a degree in government, Rafe Greenlee served as a press secretary and speechwriter to a number of elected officials, including U.S. Senator Terry Sanford and Texas Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock; was a campaign communications advisor to Texas Governor Ann Richards’ campaign; and was national communications director for public affairs for the Screen Actors Guild. Greenlee, who clerked for a federal district judge in the western district of Texas, also manages a private investment company that focuses on energy and real estate development. He has an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
